How to Make Your Picture Frame Look Old
Picture frames can make your photos more attractive. They enhance the beauty of the shot. Since there are a variety of choices, picking the right frame may be difficult for other people.
Most people prefer modern-looking frames, which are easier to match with any decor and furniture in your house. Others want frames with a vintage touch. However, antique frames sold in shops are expensive. To avoid that cost, you can make your own antique picture frame by following a few simple techniques.
First, choose a plain picture frame, preferably made of wood. Gently sand the frames’ surface using fine grit sandpaper to avoid damage. After wiping off the dust, apply one coat of primer and allow it to dry completely. Then, apply one coat of base paint (white or cream) and allow it to dry again. Apply the top coat of paint (yellow or light blue). Dry thoroughly. You can sand some edges and areas that you think would wear off eventually to simulate aging. Finally, apply one coat of ½ glaze and ½ light wood stain mixture to add a more traditional look. Let dry for 24 hours.
